GM- Battery Electric Vehicle First Responder Training

cvanderburg

Good Morning Fire Community,

Hope this email finds you well.

As a follow-up to the EV training communication from late last year, I am pleased to share that there will be a First Responder training event held here in Canada. The event will be held in Whitby Ontario ad the Durham College Whitby Campus where we will offer 4 sessions over two days. Please see details below.

GM/OnStar, in partnership with Oshawa Fire and Durham College, is hosting a First Responder Electric Vehicle Training Event in May for First Responders to learn about electric vehicle crashes. In partnership with the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI), GM has been delivering hands-on-training, at no cost, to prepare first and second responders to operate safely at incidents involving Battery Electric Vehicles. This training is an opportunity for first responders to learn first-hand about electric vehicle crashes.

The training will be offered at Durham Colleges Whitby Campus in their new state of the art EV Learning lab on May 25th & 26th, the only stop here in Canada.

Below are the training details:

Each day will have two separate sessions and participants will sign up for one of them. Each are approximately 4-hours in length and there is a test at the end for those that need to receive accreditation for attending. There will be some hands on training and will include a Hummer video, dedicated training aids, GM Subject Matter Experts and fire fighters.

Additional information and registration are available at the below site. Please register early as there are limited spots available for each session.
